The Earth is a truly magnificent place. Go backpacking through the Appalachian Mountains, swimming in the Caribbean seas, or skiing on the glaciers of the Swiss Alps and you’ll understand what I mean. I’m determined to make sure that we leave the planet in better shape than when we entered it; to give back to what that has provided entertainment and sustenance since the start of mankind. And that doesn’t necessarily mean we need to give up our love of fashion and shopping.
We’ve all become more concerned with what we’re putting into our bodies (juice cleanse, anyone?), and now it’s time to start paying closer attention to what we’re putting on our bodies. I have sought out designers who create beautiful clothing and accessories without discounting their values and their dedication to environmental causes. These vendors are making it a priority to give back to the community, via fair trade practices and the use of sustainable fabrics and manufacturing processes. I hope to make it easier for you to make ethical choices when shopping for the latest trends. Treetie is not just an outlet for eco-conscious shopping, but also an ode the Earth and a mission to help preserve all it has to offer.
Treetie has been a project in the making for years. I grew up as a tree-hugging child who chose to play with potato bugs over Barbie dolls and deemed worms as my pets. In my later years I developed a passion for fashion and design, yet I always felt a deep concern as to how our consumer-driven society negatively impacts the environment. As it turns out, many like-minded individuals share my sentiments, and are beginning to create merchandise that is both aesthetically pleasing and environmentally sound. I hope you are all as excited and enthusiastic as I am about this new direction in the fashion industry. “Treetie” represents a treaty between the Mother Nature and the world of style, and I look forward to offering you all the opportunity to look good while we pursue this mission.
